Water Slide Designer
Engineers water slides for water parks — combining thrills with physics and safety.

One of the world's longest water slides, at ESCAPE Penang in Malaysia, is 1,111 metres long and takes about 4 minutes to ride.
How subjects help
- Physics: Work out how fast riders will go around each curve so they stay safely inside the slide.
- Mathematics: Calculate heights, angles and water flow to get the thrill just right.
- Engineering: Design supports and joints strong enough to hold the slide, the water and the riders.
- Art & Design: Shape twists, colours and themes that make the slide exciting to look at.

Rick Hunter: Founded ProSlide in 1986, which has designed water slides for parks in over 40 countries.
